Joel Sutton

Lead Consultant, Assessment and Deployment Team

Before serving as a missionary, Joel Sutton worked as a bivocational pastor and band director in Arkansas. From 1988 to 1997, he and his family served in France as church planters. In 1997, Sutton joined the IMB Regional Leadership Team for Western Europe. Then in 1999, Sutton was asked to join the Personnel Assessment Team as a consultant. Sutton has been serving in that role for almost 20 years and has helped hundreds of personnel deploy to the field. Since 2012, he has been the Lead Consultant. In 2016, Sutton was the Contributing Editor for the book “Whom Shall We Send”, a volume that shared best practices learned through the years in assessing missionary personnel. Sutton is married, has three children and five grandchildren.
