SHIFT: The Five Ps of Member Care

Series: Your Path to Success at the 2023 Mission Leaders Conference!

Every global worker is worthy of compassionate and competent care. But that requires systems, structures, and a plan. Al and Elizabeth Dyck lead the Barnabas International organizational consulting team (www.barnabas.org). In this interview, Al and Elizabeth share about their upcoming workshop at the MissioNexus 2023 Mission Leader Conference: SHIFT: Rapid Social Transformation and the Gospel:

The Five Ps Process for Developing Your Member Care Team

Too many global workers are floundering when they could be flourishing in an intimate relationship with the triune God and the journey of participating in His mission.

Organizations often struggle with the tension of what can seem like competing desires for mission accomplishment and thriving staff. You can help your staff and leaders flourish in the midst of accomplishing your organization’s God-given mission!

Barnabas International’s Organizational Consulting Team has created the “Five P’s Process” to help organizations and networks craft uniquely tailored plans for implementing or improving member care to help their staff flourish.

By attending this workshop you will:

  • Articulate the specific challenges your organization faces in developing member care.
  • Take the first steps in applying the “Five P’s Process” to developing member care in your organization.
  • Determine your next steps towards a robust member care ethos and structure.

Register today and join Al and Elizabeth in Orlando September 27-29, 2023. You’ll network with new great commission friends, colleagues, and resources as you take in dynamic speakers and practical workshops at the beautiful Caribe Royale Resort.

MEET THE PRESENTERS

Raised on a farm in Illinois, Al’s cross-cultural experience began in the Air Force, including a significant stint in Germany. Later, with his wife and three children, Al returned to Germany to lead a church planting team for four years with Christian Associates International (CA). Then, he served for eight years in The Netherlands as the Director of Europe Operations, running CA’s Europe office. Sadly, after three years of cancer, his wife, Deela, went to be with the Lord. In 2008, Al married Elizabeth, and in 2010, their family moved to Spain.

Soon after this move, CA asked Al to launch a Staff Care and Development team for the organization. Leading and growing that team and influencing the organization toward health has been one of the highlights of his career. In 2018, God prompted Al and Elizabeth to join Barnabas International (BI), thus expanding their regions of work from primarily Europe to a broader context of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, as well as broadening the scope of their service from one organization to many organizations.

In 2021, BI leadership invited Al to launch and lead the BI organizational consulting team. Al is passionate about helping organizations be intentional about the health and resilience of their staff and leaders. He firmly believes organizations can help their staff and leaders flourish while accomplishing the organization’s God-given mission. He is delighted to bring his shepherd’s heart, systems experience, and leadership gifts to help organizations do just that!
