Race, Ethnicity, and Culture in STM

Details: September 29, 2023, 09:00 AM ET

Workshop Track: Short-Term Missions

Primary Audience: STM Leaders and Pastors

Cultural diversity can be an incredible asset to a STM team, but it can also create some stresses within the team. STM team training needs to help teams recognize and plan to manage any cultural stresses that might emerge--during training or while on the trip.

In addition, training programs for STM teams from North America have typically focused on preparing monocultural teams from the demographic majority (no matter what the sending country/culture might be). Working with multicultural teams requires addressing the upcoming cross-cultural mission trip from a variety of perspectives instead of just one .

This workshop will give you tools and tips to increase and manage cultural diversity within your teams and when you minister cross-culturally at your intended location or with your receiving people group.
