Adam Grant received a B.A. in Psychology from Harvard College, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan in Organizational Psychology. He is a popular science author and professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the author of the New York Times bestselling book, Think Again.

All leaders in whatever sphere of labor usually desire to achieve more and to realize their full potential – if they can do so without sabotaging other important dimensions of their lives. This book can provide important insights in to how to do this.

In the book the author describes how we tend to celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music, but argues that excessively admiring people who start out with innate advantages can lead us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills we can learn and how good we can become.

Hidden Potential offers a framework for raising aspirations and exceeding expectations. Grant weaves together well-researched evidence and fascinating real-life stories to demonstrate that progress depends less on how hard you work than on how well you learn. Growth is not about the genius you possess—it’s about the character you develop. He explores how to build the character skills and motivational energy to realize our own potential, as well as how to design systems that create opportunities for others who may have been underrated and overlooked.
