2022 Missions Activities

2022 Missions Data

Data overview of missions organization activities.

The 2022 data does not reflect much of a change from the 2021 data as far as the percentage of mission activities spread across the four main categories of Education and Training, Evangelism and Discipleship, Agency Support, and Relief and Development. We have seen a trend over the last few years of data collection of the primary activities shifting away from Evangelism and Discipleship to other support, service, and specialized arenas. There has been a shift in the role of the North American mission enterprise in focus and activities.

Even as we look in the Mission Founding section of this report, most agencies founded in the last 30 years were not sending agencies (which primarily lead the way with evangelism and discipleship activities). Only 21% of agencies founded after 1990 were sending agencies.

The North American mission movement needs to simultaneous support the growing global church and continue to mobilize a new diverse generation of North Americans to take the gospel to the unreached in partnership with national church movements.
