Summary

This is a book about execution on goals and plan. The primary author, a senior leader at Intel as it has grown and developed, shares the “secret sauce” that created the technology behemoth (Larry Page from Google wrote the forward and Google is highlighted in the book). It is based around “OKRs” or “objectives and key results.” The book alternates between instruction on how to create and use OKRs and narratives about how they have transformed various organizations. Included are both profit-making enterprises and non-profit organizations (although the latter tend to be extremely large non-profits). The author argues that the simple strategy of deploying OKRs has the potential of transforming not only business but society as a whole.
