Summary

Jordan Peterson posted a response to the question, “What are the most valuable things everybody should know?” His answer was a set of rules and they went viral. The 12 rules mentioned in this book are based on this Internet post. Peterson uses religious texts (including quite a bit of scripture), psychology and classic philosophy to back up his list of rules. He sees life as a balancing acting between order and chaos and suggests that simple rules like “Make friends with people who want the best for you” and “Be precise in your speech” will give you a meaningful life (note: for Peterson, a meaningful life is a higher goal than a happier life).
