Mission Drift, the Unspoken Crisis Facing Leaders, Charities, and Churches

By Peter Greer and Chris Horst

Bethany House Publishers, 2014, 224 Pages

Summary

This is a short book with a strong thesis and practical application. “Without careful attention, faith-based organizations will inevitably drift from their founding mission” (Kindle location 15). Greer warns leaders that they must carefully protect the spiritual nature of their ministry. The leadership paradigm here is a “culture bound” model in which the leader sets culture and the results inevitably follow. The authors put forth a set of principles called, “Mission True,” and suggests ways that leaders can create a culture which undergirds the original mission.
