As with everything, our theology ought to inform our practice. In some arenas that comes easily. Our ecclesiology prompts us to participate in the life of a local church. Our soteriology compels us to share the message of salvation with others. Often, however, we fall short of developing a robust missiology that informs our work as Christian communicators. What, exactly, IS God’s mission and how does it intersect with our job? In this webinar we will unpack a working understanding of the mission of God, review the elements of effective communication, and then combine the two, exploring together how our missiology ought to both influence and be reflected in our communication and marketing endeavors.
Dawn Kruger and her husband Nate served as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators for more than 40 years. She holds a BA in Mass Communications, an MA in English Rhetoric and Composition, and a second MA in Contemporary Missiology. Combining this training, she served as Director of Communication for Wycliffe Global Alliance Asia Pacific Area and, later, as the senior writer for the SIL Executive Communications team. Now that she’s retired she offers her services to Wycliffe and SIL as a communications consultant and editor. Dawn and colleague Michael Greed are editors of a recently published book entitled, “God and Language: Exploring the role of language in the Mission of God”.
Florence Wamae is a Communications specialist with 21 years global experience in the communications field, 18 of which have been within the Bible Translation Movement. She is currently serving with SIL International’s Global and Marketing Communications department as Public Relations Coordinator.
