Summary

Duhigg is the author of the best selling book, The Power of Habit, and writes Smarter, Faster, Better in the same story and research format. This book is divided into eight discreet chapters. While there is some overlap, one could read each chapter as a standalone treatment of the topic it addresses. The topics are motivation, teams, focus, goal setting, managing others, decision making, innovation and absorbing data. These are broad topics and their treatment within the book is necessarily broad, which might take away a little from its impact. Excellent examples from industry highlight the main points. Each chapter has an important take away or two that just about anybody could benefit from if they were to apply the information. Much of the book is about empowerment of employees, self and others.
