Right People Lead Innovation 

• Strengths:  This idea underscores the importance of having talented, creative, and visionary individuals in leadership roles to drive innovation. Effective leaders can inspire and align innovation efforts with organizational goals, suggesting that investing in the right human capital is crucial for fostering an innovative environment. 

• Weakness:  However, this statement can oversimplify the complexity of innovation by implying that the right people are the sole factor. Innovation requires a collaborative team effort, supportive culture, and appropriate resources. Additionally, we must acknowledge the multifaceted nature of successful innovation. 

Innovation is a multifaceted enterprise. It requires the right environment, a supportive culture and leadership structure, financial resources, and a definable need. One of the greatest steps an organization can take to become more innovative is to find, encourage, and liberate innovative thinkers and leaders within the organization. The right person can catalyze innovation to take root and flourish within an organization or ministry context. 

As we seek to identify potential leaders, we must also identify innovators. Innovators, attuned to innovative thought, can be found throughout the organization—not just in the C-suite but also on the accounting team, among mobilizers, or as field missionaries. We need to highlight and draw out these innovators to help us iterate our way to becoming organizations defined by innovative practice.
