Organizing to Reach the Diaspora: A Case Study in Changing Overseas Structure from Geographic Components to Global Affinity Groups.
Presented by Dr. Jerry Rankin, President, Emeritus International Mission Board, SBC
Mission organizations often change strategies or adjust priorities and focus without realizing the legacy organizational structure may no longer be the most effective means for implementing those changes. Jerry Rankin reviews how the largest evangelical mission agency, with a 160-year history of denominational accountability was able to make two radical changes in organization and structure in order to stay relevant in a changing world. The latter change in 2009 eliminated a geographic regional configuration and formed nine global affinity groups in order to reach people groups wherever they were.
