Summary
Peter Greer is president and CEO of Hope International, a Christ-centered economic development organization serving in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. He received an MPP from Harvard’s Kennedy School and coauthored the best-selling book Mission Drift. Jill Heisey is a writer who assists leaders and non-profits to share their stories.
This book is an excellent, extended exposition of the life of Solomon, tracing his auspicious beginnings to his drift into disillusionment and ultimate failure because of decades of bad decisions. As we read in detail about his drift, Greer and Heisey include stories of contemporary leaders who have followed Solomon’s lead, leading them to unfortunate results as well. Despite several of these illustrations, the book is nonetheless highly inspiring. Each of the ten chapters also includes reflection tools designed to equip leaders with practical strategies for staying “mission true.”
