Join us in beseeching (δέομαι) the Lord of the Harvest this week for…
| 15th. “Can these bones live?” Young evangelicals are praying for revival in Europe: “There is a fire among us” (CT). Join in praying for renewal within existing churches and for new church plants that can draw back those who have left for secularism or agnosticism. African evangelists have played a vital role as planters—pray this expands. Ask that those who still call themselves Christian may be drawn into deeper relationship with Jesus. Ezekiel 37:3–5 — “He asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’… ‘Prophesy to these bones and say to them, “Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!… I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.”’” 16th. Pray for believers and Kingdom workers in the Sahel, where “rapidly-multiplying jihadist movements” reshape the landscape. JNIM, an al-Qaeda affiliate, is “rampaging across West Africa,” now the most well-armed militant force in the Sahel—perhaps the world’s strongest non-state group. “They’re creating a proto-state stretching from western Mali to the Benin border” (WaPo). Pray for bold witness and ministry from Christians and wisdom for governments responding to these threats. Psalm 27:1 — “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” 17th. Pray for the Middle East. This week, the Palestinian Authority publicly called on Hamas to disarm, free the hostages, and cede Gaza, offering to work with Arab and international forces to replace Hamas. France and Saudi Arabia signaled support; Israel did not. Later, Israel struck Iran’s nuclear capacity, raising the specter of further war. Pray for peace, for a just resolution in Gaza, and for believers to be a blessing amid instability. Matthew 5:9 — “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” 18th. A new study highlights efforts to reach Chinese students in Korea (Review). Pray for Kingdom workers reaching the less visible: migrants, students, diaspora peoples. With over 300 million migrants worldwide, this trend is vast. Effective mission here would require millions of participants—yet could transform the global religious climate. Many migrants are already believers; pray that their witness among their peers multiplies. Isaiah 49:6 — “I will also make you a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” 19th. Pray for Dalits in India who have come to faith in Jesus. They face a difficult choice: publicly declare their faith and lose Scheduled Caste benefits, or keep quiet and retain SC status while quietly spreading the Kingdom (CT). Rising Hindu nationalism means more Dalit Christians are being targeted for exposure and discrimination. Pray for these believers to have courage, and also wisdom to navigate cultural complexities. Matthew 10:16 — “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.” 20th. Pray for the rapidly growing movements to Christ in India—some report over 40 million believers in challenging areas. Pray for their continued growth, for the translation of Scripture into local languages, and for resilience amid opposition. Acts 12:24 — “But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.” 21st. Continue to pray for an end to wars and rumors of wars in Sudan, DR Congo, South Sudan, the Sahel, Gaza, Ukraine, and beyond. Pray for believers caught in these conflicts: for miraculous protection, peace that surpasses understanding, opportunities to witness, and discernment to seize them. Egypt’s crackdown on Sudanese refugees is forcing many toward Libya—a dangerous path (Reuters). Pray that Christians with influence—regionally and globally—will step up and lead on behalf of the displaced. Isaiah 58:6–7, 9b — “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice… to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? … Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.” |
