Cultural Intelligence: Living for God in a Diverse, Pluralistic World

By: Darrell L. Bock

B&H Academic, 2020, 112 pages

Summary

This book argues that cultural intelligence requires an understanding of what is happening around us and how to engage these changes well. It seeks to answer these questions in a biblically rooted way: Has the church’s approach to doing battle been effectively define and practiced? Have we missed the exact nature of the battle and misdirected our mission? In answering these questions, the book examines how we got to where we are, considers what Scriptures say about engagement, observes how Paul talked about culture and how he spoke to it, discusses how to have difficult conversations with people who disagree with our worldview, discusses what prevents beneficial conversations and calls for love, and explores two ways to read Scripture so that we engage culture in balance and with respect to how God made us.
