Join us in beseeching (δέομαι) the Lord of the Harvest this week for…

I am traveling back from a conference of movement families; the items this week are a little lean (they don’t have four points each) as I’m writing this in an airport. However, these requests reflect the heart of the laborers I talked with, expressed to me very passionately.

15th. We pray for an end to the war in Ukraine. Field workers in the area reported this week how the winter has been brutal, and how the field is very difficult–and yet, there is significant spiritual openness and many opportunities.
Pray for the youth who have grown up in the midst of this grueling war. Pray for many to come to follow Jesus.
Pray for the families that have been separated as the men have gone off to war. Pray for comfort for the fearful, grieving, and lonely.
Many people from unreached nations are being recruited to fight on the Russian side; some efforts to reach them with the Gospel have been under way. Pray for these to bear spiritual fruit.

16th. We pray for an end to the war in Sudan. Another field worker told me that he thought there was no end to the war apart from a change of leadership to one that was willing to talk. This week, an article in Foreign Affairs suggests the only way forward is to acknowledge the “West/East” split in Sudan, and negotiate a cease fire. Yet neither side so far seems willing to do that.
Hundreds of thousands of refugees from Sudan and South Sudan are in camps in neighboring countries. In some places, they are not well received. Kingdom efforts are trying to be a blessing.

17th. Today, join in prayer with many others for the 400 million Buddhists during the Global Day of Prayer for the Buddhist world! Let’s join our voices with millions around the world crying out for a tsunami of the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord to surround the Buddhist nations and families of China, Tibet, Japan, Thailand, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka that they would have an authentic encounter with Jesus Christ by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit!
“Heavenly Father, on this Lunar New Year, we lift the Dalai Lama and the people of Lhasa, Tibet. We ask that Your glory would rest upon the Dalai Lama and reach every person held captive by the Buddhist religion. Open their hearts to receive You, surrender to You, and experience Your love and forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, Amen”

18th. We pray for the future of Bangladesh. The election is complete and the BNP has won. All sides seem to be indicating they want a peaceful progression. Pray that in this environment there will be opportunities for the Kingdom to advance as well.
Pray for continued peace in the transition in power.
Praise God for the initial rapproachment signals between India and Bangladesh; pray that this will lead to peace in the border areas and the possibility of Kingdom workers to move back and forth.
Pray for the Gospel to expand amongst Bangladeshis, wherever they are in the world.

19thJapan’s election was a landslide victory for the Prime Minister, riding a wave of nationalistic fervor in the wake of Beijing’s pressures. The PM now has an unprecedented supermajority and is floating ideas for constitutional revisions, perhaps related to the Self-Defense Forces.
Pray that the government would use its mandate wisely.
Another huge issue in Japan is how welcome foreigners are. As nationalism surges, pray for favor for foreign workers, especially those bringing the Kingdom with them.

20thCambodia is in a “whack-a-mole” war with various scam centers and properties. An article describes how many have “escaped appalling conditions” in the scam centers–but are now living on the streets in the capital. They come from all over the region, and some from further away still.
Pray for Kingdom efforts that would be a blessing to those who have been “released from prison.”
Pray that the cease-fire between Thailand and Cambodia would hold—many thousands have been displaced, with their homes destroyed, and yet the Gospel has also been “flung out” with them into new places.

21st. Pray for the safety of the Kingdom efforts at work in the Sahel, many in a context of uncertainty and violence. Between JNIM, Boko Haram, other Islamic militants, bandits, warlords, militias, and the local governments (plus forces from Russia, the US, and others), to label the region “uncertain” is an understatement. Yet Kingdom efforts advance in the midst of “wars and rumors of wars.”
Pray especially for the former militants who have come to follow Jesus, and are now leading others to follow him as well.
Pray for “Gospel spaces” to grow, where local militia leaders who are friendly to the Kingdom provide some protection and safety for believers.
