Join us in beseeching (δέομαι) the Lord of the Harvest this week for…

26th. Pray for the Gaza cease-fire to hold, for the remains of the hostages to be returned, for the end of violence between militias and Hamas, and for peace to settle in. Pray for the innocents who are caught in the middle, many of whom are traumatized (especially children). Pray for the NGOs who are laboring to deliver humanitarian aid and relief, including food and medical care. Pray for those who are planning the long-term reconstruction of Gaza. Pray for the Kingdom values of peace, reconciliation, justice and mercy to become part of the area.
“Let the work of righteousness be peace, and the effect of righteousness quietness and confidence forever” (Isaiah 32:17). Pray for peace that grows from justice.
“The Lord will restore the fortunes of his people and have compassion on his servants” (Psalm 135:14). Pray for compassion in the rebuilding.
“They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks” (Micah 4:3). Pray for disarmament of hearts and hands.
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you” (Isaiah 26:3). Pray for inner peace amid ruins and fear.

27th. Pray for kingdom workers in the Horn of Africa, especially those focused on Somalia. The lifting of Somalia’s arms embargo has caused enormous amounts of weapons to flood in, many of which have “leaked” into militant hands. Al-Shabaab has been fighting and reclaiming swathes of territory. In the midst of this, some Kingdom agencies have noted double-digit martyrs, including parents and children.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm 116:15). Pray for comfort for the families of martyrs.
“The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church” (Tertullian-echo; cf. John 12:24). Pray for new life from sacrifice.
“Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58). Pray for perseverance among weary workers.
“The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life” (Psalm 121:7). Pray for divine protection over those still serving.

28th. Pray for kingdom workers, their famlies, and agencies in West Africa, who are having to balance risks with boldness to see the Gospel spread. This week, word has come of an American missionary kidnapped by militants in Niger. The government and the US are trying to locate at extract him, but the risks remain high. Other Kingdom workers in the area face similar risks, but not all make headlines when they are kidnapped or killed. Pray for wisdom, discernment, and courage.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Psalm 56:3). Pray for calm faith in crisis.
“Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you” (Psalm 50:15). Pray for rescue for the kidnapped and safety for the rest.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10). Pray for refuge and strength.
“Do not be frightened in anything by your opponents” (Philippians 1:28). Pray for boldness that confounds fear.

29th. Pray for the further spread of the Gospel in Bihar, one of the poorest and most populous provinces in India. Elections are being held there soon, and so there is some political tension. Pray for kingdom work to continue during this time.
“The poor have good news preached to them” (Luke 7:22). Pray for the marginalized to hear and believe.
“Those who turn many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever” (Daniel 12:3). Pray for fruitful witnesses.
“Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm” (1 Chronicles 4:10). Pray for protection amid political unrest.
“The word of the Lord spread and prevailed mightily” (Acts 19:20). Pray for unstoppable Gospel growth.

30th. Pray for Gospel opportunities in Japan. This week, a story tells of how Japan’s “cram schools” (college preparatory) are seeing a decline in their normal “market” (Japanese school age population is declining by 0.5 million per year), and so are opening the doors to Chinese middle-class students who want to attend Japanese schools. Does this mean there is an opportunity to bless both Japanese and Chinese by focusing on students in Japan? Pray for Kingdom workers to have boldness, discernment and innovation!
“Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest” (John 4:35). Pray for awareness of new openings.
“Teach me, and I will be silent; make me understand how I have gone astray” (Job 6:24). Pray for students to seek wisdom beyond academics.
“Let the wise hear and increase in learning” (Proverbs 1:5). Pray for teachers who guide toward truth.
“Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising” (Isaiah 60:3). Pray for Japanese and Chinese youth to walk in the Light.

31st. Pray for the Anglican Communion, which is in the midst of a split. The Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) has announced it no longer recognizes the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and now calls itself the Global Anglican Communion–it represents more than 45 million believers across North Africa and North America, while Canterbury holds about 15 million. This tension has been building for years over theology related to sexuality and authority. Many Anglican missionaries work among the unreached; pray that work continues despite this event.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). Pray for love that outweighs bitterness and heals old wounds.
“Let all that you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14). Pray that every council, synod, and conversation be shaped by charity.
“If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light” (Matthew 6:22). Pray for clarity of vision—for both GAFCON and Canterbury—to seek Christ above institution.
“The branch cannot bear fruit by itself… abide in me, and I in you” (John 15:4). Pray that abiding in Christ will bear global fruit even through pruning and division.

1st Nov. Pray for the believers and spiritually hungry in Iran, which is undergoing one of the worst shortages and climate crises in decades. It doesn’t make the news much outside Iran, but it is an enormous stress on daily life, business, and the government. It may lead to significant people movements out of Tehran. Pray for believers to be a help and blessing to their neighbors and for the Gospel to spread in the midst of the uncertain daily life.
“I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground” (Isaiah 44:3). Pray for both physical and spiritual refreshment.
“You will keep him in perfect peace, because he trusts in you” (Isaiah 26:3). Pray for steadfast hearts under pressure.
“The desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus” (Isaiah 35:1). Pray for renewal and hope across Iran.
“Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again… but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty” (John 4:13-14). Pray for many to find the living water of Christ.
