30th. This will likely be the last day of Ramadan. Let’s pray for Muslims on this final day to receive visions and dreams of Jesus, and to be drawn to believers. We know God loves all peoples, including Muslims, and pray that many will come to follow Jesus.
31st. We pray for the many who have been impacted by the earthquake in Myanmar. The 7.6 quake saw significant damage and many killed. Pray that the church in Myanmar will have strength and courage as they are a blessing in the aftermath of the tragedy. Pray that many mission agencies, denominations, and Kingdom workers will be able to bring aid to those who have been hurt by this disaster. Let’s pray out of Psalm 34:18, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” We also pray for an end to the war in Myanmar, which has threatened to break the country apart. Pray that God will use the aftermath of the earthquake to bring about peace in the land.
1 Apr. After thousands of deaths and kidnappings, Nigerian Christians are calling on the US to recognize persecution (CT). We pray for Nigeria’s “intensifying landscape of chaos” (HumAngle). The north is experiencing continuous armed violence: mass killings, abductions, raids, goods seizures, and “protection money” style tax-impositions on crops, cattle and fishing. In addition to the general impact of the violence on people’s lives, this coupled with a decline in rainfall means the region’s farming potential has been devastated and food production and prices in Nigeria have been negatively affected. Other regions (such as the southeast) have had life and livelihoods affected by other militant groups (such as in Biafra), further causing economic damage. Kidnapping for ransom is prevalent across all six zones in Nigeria. The nation is in the grips of a terrible systemic paralysis of violence and economic devastation, and religious lines are very dangerous. Pray for the believers and kingdom workers who are laboring in this difficult context to spread the Good News and see disciples made; at great cost, fruit is being seen even in some of the most difficult places.
2nd. We pray for the church in Japan, which is struggling to survive: the church is aging, many existing pastors are serving in their 70s and there is no one to replace them, and many churches don’t have pastors at all. We pray that the Gospel will spread throughout Japan, and many young people will come to follow Jesus. We pray for new and innovative ways to bring the Gospel to this nation. And we praise God for Japanese Christians and pastors who persevere, despite all the discouragements!
3rd. In Saudi Arabia, many housekeepers from other nations face rape, assault, and death (NYT). We pray especially for the many expatriate Christian women who travel to work as housekeepers–for their protection and that through them the Gospel will come to many Saudi households. Pray Psalm 91:11, “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
4th. We pray for the Christian community in Syria, which is on edge in the wake of a massacre that largely targeted Alawite Shiites. Many Christians “wonder if they are next.” Over half of the 2-million strong Christian community in Syria have already left. Pray for protection for the Syrian church from all that oppose it. Pray fir peace for Syria, and for the Gospel to spread amongst Syrians.
5th. We pray for peace and a cessation of the fighting in DR Congo, Tigray, and South Sudan, and for an end to the war in Sudan as well. We pray that the churches and church leaders in DR Congo and South Sudan will be able to have a peacemaking impact. We pray for the many who have been wounded and traumatized in the violence, and for believers who will be a blessing to them.
