Using Short- and Mid-term Missions to Reach Diaspora Groups in North America

Details: September 28, 2023, 01:45 PM - 03:00:00 PM ET

Workshop Track: Short-Term Missions

Primary Audience: Experienced short-term and mid-term leaders and trainers

The traditional paradigm that said cross-cultural missionaries need to go “over there” to reach the unreached or unengaged is no longer valid.

Population shifts mean that today many unreached people groups are found living in our own cities and communities. But trying to reach them with ESL or citizenship classes might not be enough. Churches and mission agencies need to work together to leverage each other’s strengths to accomplish the task—just like we have been doing for decades in international short- and mid-term missions.

This workshop will briefly describe the opportunities for doing cross-cultural missions in our own country and will explore some possible ways that we can utilize and leverage what we’ve learned about sending short-term teams and individuals to other parts of the world when reaching out to local Diaspora groups.
