2022 Missions Staffing Overview
Home office, short-term field, and long-term field staffing data for 118 Missio Nexus member mission agencies.
118 mission agencies have reported 34,504 great commission focused team members who are serving in home offices and as short and long-term field workers. Seventeen percent of the staff (5,912) serve in the home office supporting the work to mobilize, train, and sustain the overall work of the agency. Fifty-seven percent of the staff (20,235) serve in long-term field positions. Seven percent (1,363) of long-term field staff have a designated service period of 2-4 years and 92% (18,593) have a designated service period of 4+ years.
For short-term mission workers, 118 agencies reported 8,357 who served in 2022. Sixty-two percent (5,176) served 2 weeks or less, 10% (800) served more than 2 weeks but less than 1 year and 24% (2,046) served 1–2 years.
2021 Data vs. 2022 Data
Seventy-one agencies provided staffing numbers in both 2021 and 2022. As we compared that data there was an overall increase of 2,937 staff for home office and long-term combined. Twenty-two agencies reported a decrease in staff, one remained neutral, and forty-nine reported increases in the overall staff. The largest decrease reported by an agency was -466. The largest single agency increase in staff was 1,699.
Home office staff showed an overall increase of 1,151. The largest single agency increase was 989, and the largest single agency decrease was -195. Fifteen agencies reported a decrease in staff, fourteen were neutral, and forty-three reported increases in home office staff.
Long-Term field staff showed an overall increase of 1,786. The largest single agency increase was 796, and the largest single agency decrease was -442. Twenty-four agencies reported a decrease in staff, fifteen were neutral, and thirty-three reported increases in long-term field staff.
Short-Term, which represents thirty-three agencies who provided 2021 and 2022 data fit into three categories.
- 2 Weeks or Less: Shows an overall decrease of -63. The largest single agency decrease was -194, and the largest single agency increase was 134. Eleven agencies reported a decrease, twelve were neutral, and ten reported an increase in 2 Weeks or Less.
- More than 2 Weeks but Less than 1 Year: Shows an overall decrease of -539. The largest single agency decrease was -299, and the largest single agency increase was forty-one. Fifteen agencies reported a decrease, nine were neutral, and nine reported an increase in More than 2 Weeks but Less than 1 Year.
- 1–2 Years: Shows an overall increase of 521. The largest single agency decrease was -16, and the largest single agency increase was 235. Eight agencies reported a decrease, fifteen were neutral, and ten reported an increase in 1–2 Years.
