What EMQ covers
EMQ is where the mission community thinks out loud. Missionaries, agency leaders, trainers, and missiologists write about the work in front of them: discipleship, church planting, evangelism, member care, funding, leadership, and the cultural questions no training manual fully answers.
It’s not an academic journal. Every article is carefully reasoned, and every one is written for the person doing the work.

Sixty-two volumes
and counting.
EMQ started in 1963, when a small group of mission leaders talked late into the night at an ice cream shop in Winona Lake, Indiana. The first issue came out in October 1964. Missio Nexus has published it since 2018, and the purpose hasn’t changed: help the mission community learn from each other’s work.

EMQ is written by the people doing the work. If you’ve tested an idea, wrestled with a hard question, or watched God move across a cultural line, the editor wants to hear from you. Articles run 2,000 to 3,000 words, and submissions in languages other than English are welcome.
