What we believe
Missio Nexus is a Christian organization committed to the work of the Great Commission. Our membership includes agencies and churches across denominations and traditions, and we believe doctrinal clarity matters more, not less, in a network that crosses theological lines. This is the statement that every member, partner, and staff person agrees to.
Statement of faith
What we hold tobe true
God
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and personal return in power and glory.
Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
Humanity
We believe that Adam, created in the image of God, was tempted by Satan and fell. Because of Adam’s sin, all humans are guilty and totally depraved. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential.
Salvation
We believe that salvation consists of the remission of sins, the imputation of Christ’s righteousness, and the gift of eternal life, received by faith alone, apart from works. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those saved unto eternal life, and those lost unto eternal damnation.
The Church
We believe that the church, the body of Christ, consists only of those who are born again, baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ, for whom he now makes intercession in heaven, and for whom he will come again. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Evangelism and Missions
We believe that Christ commanded the church to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, baptizing and teaching those who believe. We believe that the natural outcome of such activity leads to the establishment of local congregations.
The Christian and Society
We believe all Christians are under obligation to make the will of Christ supreme in our own lives and in human society. In the spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, greed, selfishness, vice, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. We should work to provide for the orphaned, needy, abused, aged, helpless, and sick, and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death.
