Summary

Kyle Farran has served for two decades in leadership in fourteen countries across Africa and Europe. He has opened an HIV/AIDS hospice care home in South Africa, trained Zulu pastors, and currently serves as a Regional Director of ABWE (Association of Baptists for World Evangelization), coaching mission staff and other leaders to live out their calling with resilience and impact.

The author rightly stresses that life, leadership, and ministry are hard, providing challenges that can drain joy and tempt one to quit. He argues that when one’s perspective is “rooted in God,” hardship doesn’t have to shake us. The book does not argue for greater willpower or mental toughness, rather a perspective anchored in the truth of Scripture. The book seeks to help readers endure hardship, resist discouragement, and lead with greater courage, steadiness, and faith.
