Stand Firm
Blessings family!
First, I want to thank you amazing Church Missions Leaders!
This is Carlos Negrón, the new Director of Church Engagement for Missio Nexus. As the apostle Paul would say, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” I am humbled and in awe of the way you have welcomed me into this new role in Missio Nexus. I’ve had the privilege to connect with so many of you great Church Mission Leaders and I have to say: YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
Since our CML Conference we’ve been reaching out to every church member of Missio Nexus that we could possibly connect with. We are trying to “take the pulse” of our local churches and listen to what YOU feel is key to building real connections within our missions community.
YOU ARE A PARTNER THAT WE WANT TO COME ALONGSIDE AND ENGAGE THE WORLD FOR CHRIST TOGETHER
We are also offering every local CML opportunities to be a part of the content provided at the different events (in person & online) we offer. With that being said, we would love it if you could click on this link to let us know what you want our Peer2Peer Virtual Events to cover. We want to provide subject matter that interests you. It will only take 3 minutes!!

Something God showed me this morning:
As my family and I prayed and did our devotional, my 15-year-old son, whom you can hardly get more than 5 words out of -especially in the morning- prayed (insert dropped jaw here). He prayed for the innocent victims of war-torn areas in the world. He prayed Psalm 91 over the children in those areas.
The thing is, when my son was 7 & 8 years old, he experienced the scariest, most difficult times in his short life. We lived in a Muslim country on the other side of the world with real threats being a part of our daily lives. On top of that, he had a really hard time being accepted there. I remember many days of him coming home from school and crying, asking, “Why?” He would meet new kids and as soon as they found out that he was a Christian, they would literally shun him. They would say, “We can’t play with you.” He experienced verbal and physical harassment and bullying. My wife and I would go to the school and they didn’t do much to rectify the situation. We eventually had to do homeschooling.
During that time, we had him read Psalm 91 out loud every night before he went to sleep. He complained, he wasn’t happy to do it, it was tedious, etc. However, something happened…he began to simply recite it without having to read it. He memorized it without him even knowing it.
Years went by and we eventually moved back home. I had forgotten how important Psalm 91 was in his life during that time. This morning, as he prayed, my heart was moved. I was reminded that everything we have invested, every seed we have planted, every Word we have taught HAS NOT been in vain. I was reminded that we are to stand firm, “…immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.”(1Corinthians 15:58)
Fellow CML, every seed that has been planted, everything that has been invested, every Word that has been taught -HAS NOT been in vain. Scripture tells us., “…God’s Word that goes out from His mouth, will NOT return to Him empty, but it will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) Stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Do not give up, continue running the race, hold fast to what is good, do not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. What seems to be a lost cause, what seems to have been forgotten, what seems to have been a fool’s errand…if done following the desire of the Lord WILL achieve the purpose for which it was done. ALL glory to God!
By the way, part of my son’s prayer was, “…that every child would find shelter in the Most High as I have, and for them to be able to rest in the shadow of the Almighty as I did, I pray that they are covered with His feathers and under His wings they find refuge like I found.” I haven’t heard him recite that in years…but there it was, my son -praying God’s Word for these children. It was in his heart, mind and spirit all along. God is ALWAYS faithful. The work is NOT in vain family. STAND FIRM!
