Summary
The book is a call for Christian courage for believers (including missionaries) who are afraid and anxious in this scary world. It addresses fear from the spiritual and emotional aspects, because doing so “at the heart level addresses the root cause of worry, anxiety, and stress” (page 5). The purpose of the book “is to consider, as we wrestle with fears of any description, how the truth of God’s word can comfort our questioning soul” (page xi). Through personal story, reflection, and meditation on Scripture, the author discusses the prevalence of fear and how to look to God for response, relates fear with sin and death, casts a vision for life without dread, explores how to live that way by knowing God and His love through Christ, by growing in the Bible and prayer, and by discovering how to fulfill our encouragement role with one another.
