Introducing A Third of Us Alliance – a new chapter under Missio Nexus

ALLIANCE UPDATE

From Viral Campaign to Global Alliance

General Release

The Alliance for the Unreached Rebranding and Restructuring in 2026

Eight years ago, the Alliance for the Unreached launched a viral campaign called A Third of Us. This campaign raised awareness for the third of humanity still living with little to no access to the gospel in over 7,000 unreached people groups. The campaign has been enormously successful with over 5 million engagements by Christians around the world. It has been endorsed and promoted by many church and mission leaders such as David Platt and Francis Chan.

Now under the leadership of Missio Nexus, the world’s largest association of mission agencies, the Alliance has the potential for a much broader reach. In recognition of the visibility created by A Third of Us, the Alliance for the Unreached is announcing a rebranding beginning in 2026, and will going forward be known as A Third of Us Alliance.

As part of this rebranding, the Alliance is also restructuring and will have two tiers of membership: advisory members and contributing members. Membership will be open to both agencies and churches that want to participate.

Ted Esler, president of Missio Nexus, the parent organization of the Alliance, said this about the rebranding and restructuring: “This is more than a name change. It’s a declaration of shared purpose. A Third of Us is a compelling way to express the urgency of the mission, and the Alliance exists to mobilize the global church to respond – together.”

The transition to A Third of Us Alliance will roll out across digital platforms, partner communications, and public-facing materials in the coming months. A Third of Us will also encompass the Day of the Unreached observed each Pentecost Sunday. For the last ten years, this day has been promoted by all alliance members around the world as a day of prayer and mobilization for reaching the third of humanity with limited access to the gospel.

Missio Nexus is giving an open call to all evangelical agencies and churches that feel called to be a part.  To find out more about membership or how to support the vision of the Alliance, you can visit athirdofus.org.
