Most people would agree that internal controls are important in any organization. However, smaller ministries may find it difficult to maintain adequate controls with limited staff and budgets. We will discuss where to focus attention and options that may not have been previously considered that will help protect your organization and staff.

Your Presenters

Vonna Laue  is a financial and operational consultant who has worked with ministries and churches for over 20 years. Vonna was a partner for a national CPA firm serving not-for-profit entities through audit, review, tax, and advisory services and an executive vice president for a Christian ministry that works to enhance trust in the church and ministry community. She is currently serving ministries through consulting engagements.

Vonna earned her B.S. degree from Black Hills State University and her MBA degree in leadership and human resource management from the University of Colorado. She has served national and international boards and has published articles in multiple national publications as well as co-authored three books. She frequently speaks regionally and nationally.

Kelton Hays has served as Finance Director for the Center for Mission Mobilization since 2015. Before joining the CMM, Kelton was a staff auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he earned his CPA license. Kelton oversees a small team of 3 to 4 people which manages all accounting, financial, insurance, and legal matters at CMM. Over the years his team has had to be intentional and creative to institute good internal controls. Kelton and his wife, Aubree, have been married for 5 years and have a 19 month old son, Hank, and their second child on the way.
