Summary

This book presents the results of a quantitative national U.S. study on the dechurching phenomenon (i.e., regular Christian worshipers nationwide have decided to no longer attend church at all). The research sought to answer three questions: (1) how big is the problem?; (2) who are leaving and why?; and (3) what is happening in evangelicalism? According to the authors, “This book is the compilation of our research and our practical pastoral application to better understand and address the Great Dechurching” (page xxiv). The authors hope to comprehensively explain why people are leaving, where they are going, and what churches can do to bring them back.
