Sometimes gender inequalities and gender-based violence are viewed as an unfortunate side-effect of cultural circumstances and are peripheral to the core of gospel ministry. Recent research from Open Doors International describes how – in the 50 most oppressive regimes in the world – this couldn’t be further from the truth. It is, in fact, integral to strategies to destroy Christian families and communities. Open Doors has developed a practical theology program to strengthen communities through Restorations of core identity beliefs so that syncretism and circumstance cannot undermine church witness.
