Job Description Summary

The Director of International Administration Human Resources works to support the Managers and staff of SIL assigned to International Administration departments in order for them to flourish toward advancing the mission of SIL International. The Director leads and manages the Human Resources team in delivering high quality services to all staff. The Director ensures that the department’s strategy and support services are fully aligned with SIL’s strategic priorities and meets the current and anticipated needs of the workforce.

IA HR functions/domains and priorities are clearly defined.

Current staff receive supportive care.

Evaluation of current staff helps to ensure that they are in roles in which they can thrive

Gaps or vulnerabilities in current processes and relationships are addressed, and suggestions and recommendations are offered for strengthening both

There is clarity about the working relationship with International Language Services (ILS), and trust is growing.

Managers served by IAHR are well supported in their staffing needs.

Responsibilities

Provide supportive/pastoral leadership to the IAHR team
Ensure alignment with SIL’s strategic plan and organizational priorities. Oversee the cascading of communication throughout the HR area and the adjustment of internal practices to match organization changes over time.
Encourage increasing professionalism and continuous improvement among current staff while also fostering a healthy, highly collaborative and supportive culture.
Lead and mentor the HR team, encouraging ongoing growth and development of staff toward their full potential.
Oversee change management processes that continue to lead the HR area into greater professionalism and organizational alignment.
Advise and direct IA HR staff on complex people-related matters, including policy questions, investigative, termination, disciplinary issues, and partnership challenges.
Oversee the budgeting, planning, and monitoring processes for the area.
Workforce planning for SIL’s International Administration HR functions
Define the needs and expectations that customers of IA have in terms of service:
Ensure the efficiency and timeliness of replies to requests
Effective  client/customer support, service, and communication
Invest in strengthening relational trust with stakeholders, including ILS and IA managers.
Maintain a healthy work environment within the area and between and among teams.
Develop and maintain networks of peer relationships.
Oversee IA HR budget
Engage with SIL Area HR Directors, People Strategies Global team, and leaders in the organization.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 5-7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that allows someone to meet the requirements of the position.
Experience in HR management is required.
Appropriate HR certification is preferred (SHRM or equivalent)
Familiarity with Payroll and Benefits system
Proficiency  in standard office software such as Google Workspace Microsoft Office Suite, Workday and video conferencing software
Process/workflow management experience
Employee relations experience

Travel Requirements

Domestic (US) travel. 2-3 times a year

International travel  1-2 a year

Minimum Skill Sets

Spiritual Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ): Demonstrates desire and ability to support corporate Biblical and religious goals and participate in regular work-related spiritual activities without reservation.

Skilled at managing the principles in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, and program and project management. Ability to help design, build and implement programs and processes to support business needs.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills in relating to people at all levels of positions and diverse backgrounds.

Ability to oversee financial resources and identify and resolve complex problems in a timely manner. Ability to develop alternative solutions and use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Skilled as an energetic leader in building, maintaining, coaching and encouraging a strong team.

Well organized, self directed and highly effective at relationship-building and influencing senior leadership and at engaging with leaders across the organization.

Strong grasp of SIL culture, goals, policies, technology, and engagement strategies.

Spanish language proficiency is a plus
