Compensation and Benefits Specialist

The Compensation and Benefits Specialist coordinates and manages the paid staff compensation and benefits programs. This role is a vital part of the Human Resources team and reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.


  • Accurately processes paid staff payroll on a bi-weekly cycle
  • Administers employee insurance programs including health, dental, vision, and retirement insurance plans
  • Advises and informs employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions
  • Facilitates accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers
  • Leads yearly open enrollment efforts including facilitating employee benefits sessions
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • This position averages between 15-20 hours each week

  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with G-Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS system
  • Familiarity with ADP is a plus

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of human resource management experience preferred
  • SHRM-CP or HRCI-PHR is a plus
