Summary

This book is a 10^th anniversary edition that continues to focus on the emerging trends in donor giving and behavior. It is designed “as a guide to building effective partnerships between donors and funding recipients in mission and ministry” (page xvi). Specifically, it serves as an introduction to mission and ministry funding in the twenty-first century. To provide this introduction, the author gives a historical view of the role of the donor, emphasizes the need for a new relationship between the donors and recipients, shifts the new donor focus from outcomes to impact, and offers practical advice as a way forward. Finally, the book presents a new chapter that illustrates the behavior of high-capacity donors over the past decade in their giving, actions, and leadership.
