Learning peer-to-peer from mutual challenges was a joy. Deepening relationship that allowed for mutual interaction outside of class time.

Structure

The OnBoard program will launch each year with a new class of CEOs at the Missio Nexus Annual Mission Leaders Conference. Participants are requested to attend the fall conference, where specific time will be utilized in the schedule for the new group to interact with the OnBoard Coach and meet as a cohort. Following the conference, the individual CEOs will have the opportunity to interact via phone, email, and through an online virtual cohort group with each other and the OnBoard Coach.

Potential Topics for Interaction and Advising

The Leader – Understanding that the most strategic investment a CEO can make is in themselves, this session helps leaders build a foundation for sustainable, values-based leadership through guided reflection and actionable frameworks.
Organizational Purpose – Beyond mission, vision, values, this session helps clarify each organization’s unique value proposition, strategic distinctives, and case for partnership.
Financial Language – Designed for non-financial leaders, this session demystifies key financial statements (P&L, balance sheets), teaches how to “read the story behind the numbers,” and builds confidence in financial conversations.
Innovation – In a rapidly changing global environment, innovation is not optional. This session equips CEOs with a mindset and model for adaptive leadership, enabling them to drive meaningful change and experimentation.
Strategic Planning – Whether starting from scratch or refining an existing plan, this session offers principles and practices for developing, aligning, and executing strategy in a mission-driven context.
Fundraising and the CEO – CEOs must engage with diverse stakeholders, but financial partners are the key constituent that will require both skill and art. This session unpacks donor archetypes, introduces customer journey mapping, and defines the CEO’s role in donor cultivation and partner communication.
Governance – Navigating board relationships is one of the most critical, and often misunderstood, elements of CEO effectiveness. This session provides practical tools for building trust, clarity, and productive board engagement.
