Presenting Christ in Changing Hindu Contexts

Global Strategies Track | Workshop Set 4

Thursday, September 29, 2022 15:45 PM

Description

Primary Audience Anyone engaged in Hindu ministry, both in India and in the USA and other diasporas Description Materialism and success are the new gods ruling many young Indian/Hindu lives, in competition with the rise of Hindu fundamentalism.

These polar opposites both stand on a foundation of the modern Hindu consensus that developed in the late colonial era, and which overwhelmingly rebuffed Christian evangelistic approaches (with exceptions on the fringes of Hindu society among Dalits and tribal peoples).

Globalization has thus only made increasingly complex an already too-complicated scenario in terms of presenting Christ to Hindus. This seminar will explore these issues and probe fresh approaches aimed at gaining a new hearing from Hindu peoples.
