Summary

This book seeks to unpack the five qualities of Daniel’s mission within the book of Daniel, arguing that these qualities are needed on mission today. These five qualities are: (1) posture of vulnerability as a displaced believer; (2) giftedness through natural and professional skills; (3) God-given favor with political leaders; (4) God’s power experienced and demonstrated in mission; and (5) bold witness for God despite hardship and suffering. The author discusses these five qualities in the five chapters of his book and explores them further in other parts of scripture, in mission history, and in the contemporary world. The author also uses the hermeneutic of mission in reading and reflecting on the book of Daniel, which is often overlooked in mission studies, despite how “Daniel’s life, work, and witness speak to our times” (p. xi).
