Expectations are a great barrier. When training new folk, one of the first steps is to tear down all their expectations. As we go through their expectations, we ask folk to show us where they are in the Bible. Some folk have great expectations for their first year, some expect their leaders never to fail, their finances to be similar to everyone at home, their health insurance to never fail, their ministry to be immediately successful, the folks they minister to -to be able to read and write, that they will get something out of the new church plant services, rather than just put into it. etc. After looking at a long series of expectation, and discussing then, then we can start talking about finding innovative ways to deal with things, or share the innovative solutions that God has led us into, as an organization.
