People don’t fail to change because they lack information. They fail because they lack ongoing support for implementation. This workshop will change your training from information events into lasting transformation.
You’ll learn:
• Why is what we’ve been doing not working and how can we change?
• Why and how should sending organizations intentionally invest in coaching their workers?
• How can organizations strategically connect coaching and training in order to generate much better results for the well-being and productivity of our workers?
Studies have shown that training events produce an average of only 23% behavioral increase toward the training objectives (see Olivero). If coaching follows training, the behavioral results increase to 88%.
Why? To use the old phrase, “Change is not an announcement.” People are complex and have competing values and emotions. We can intellectually agree that behaving differently would be good and learn some techniques to do so, but our emotions, ambiguity tolerance, personal habits, social skills, beliefs, and values can get in the way of us doing it. Overcoming these obstacles is where coaching shines.
Effective personal and professional development often combine both approaches: group training to establish what needs to be done, and then individual coaching to support how it’s applied in the participant’s specific context.
