OVERVIEW

The purpose of this position is to provide oversight for the full training program, including MTS (Missionary Training School), the pre-field training, and TSS (Thailand Settling Service), the on-the-field training. This ministry and teaching role is full-time. Support-raising is required. The Director of Training has the ability to work onsite and from home on a regular basis. The role is based in Bangkok, Thailand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

– Provide oversight to the Missionary Training School (MTS)
– Support the preparation of relevant and insightful lessons for each module based on the MTS curriculum and Apprenticeship criteria.
– Help instruct in-person classroom sessions (video discussions, book discussions, Bible studies, and activities) for MTS 
– Support in coordinating speakers from partner organizations to share or teach
– Correspond with current students to answer questions about assignments, outreach and ministry, expectations, rules, etc.
– Engage in life-on-life pastoral care and discipleship with students outside the class
– Participate in weekly training team meetings, coach’s meetings, staff meetings, monthly staff worship
– Oversee the whole Thailand Settling Service which assists new missionaries as they arrive on the field to get settled into a good routine and lifestyle. This involves helping them with housing, finances/banking, transportation, culture, language, immigration, food, and socialization.
– Oversee the 2-day video call and the 2-day in-person training for Thailand Settling Services.
– Stay informed of the needs and opportunities within GFM and in the community

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Must personally embrace GFM’s purpose, vision, values. and statement of faith
– Must identify as a maturing believer in Jesus Christ with a high view of Scripture (2 Tim 3:16-17; Col 3:16-17)
– Must demonstrate humility, teachability, and an ability to work well with others (Eph 4:15)
– Must display advanced interpersonal relational skills and be dedicated to peacemaking (Heb 10:24-25)
– Must function well both independently and in a team environment (1 Cor 12:25-26)
– Must be able use or learn internal communications and technology systems (Email, Google Drive, Slack, Salesforce, etc.)
– Must have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: teaching students, cross-cultural work, and community outreach
– Must be ready to experience significant missions training and discipleship through GFM’s Missionary Training School (onsite or online)
