Position Overview:
Major Gifts Officer at Global Outreach International (GOI) requires a skilled major gift officer to achieve major gift fundraising objectives. This person’s primary responsibility will be the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects capable of gifts $5,000 or greater. This involves prospect research, developing effective solicitation strategies, and stewarding donors throughout the major-giving process. This individual will also work with our board members and staff leaders to coordinate and execute long-term fundraising initiatives. The Major Gifts Officer reports to the Vice-President of Development (VPD) and is primarily a remote-based position with domestic and international travel as appropriate.
Responsibilities | Major Gifts
· Responsible for raising major gifts through pledges, outright gifts, or deferred gifts.
· Identify and research major gift donor prospects.
· Grow relationships with major gift donors (individuals, churches, corporations), including contacting major gift donors regularly.
· Plan and execute a development plan, which includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects and donors ($5,000+), while working independently or collaboratively with volunteers.
· Manage a major gift prospect base of between 100 – 125 qualified major gift prospects including those top prospects requiring attention from organizational leadership.
· Execute 20+ contacts per month with at least half being personal, direct contact. Must be able to travel as needed.
· Track and assess major gift fundraising metrics.
· Work collaboratively with the board, staff, and volunteers on fundraising initiatives, including special events.
· Document gifts and pledges and adhere to policies and procedures for accepting, recording, and acknowledging gifts.
· Monitor and enter all activities in the CRM system in an accurate and timely manner.
· Provide thoughtful, consistent, and appropriate donor stewardship including invitations to events and impact reports.
Responsibilities | Other
· Develop strategies that support the growth and development of the Development department.
· Assists in facilitating Missionary Orientation and Training.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
· Results-oriented with professional characteristics that include leadership, commitment to confidentiality, flexibility, team-orientation, attention to detail and sensitivity to the stewardship of long-term relationships.
· A thorough background in fundraising best practices and donor databases for managing donor and solicitation records.
· Experience cultivating and maintaining donors in a mission-driven organization.
· Ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Candidate must show attention to detail and the ability to balance strategic and scheduled responsibilities.
· International missions experience preferred.
· Ability to engage GOI’s mission statement, exemplify GOI’s core values, identify with GOI’s statement of beliefs, and embrace GOI’s corporate culture.
· Experience working in cross-cultural environments with a demonstrated understanding of missions’ work and relevant related issues.
· Experience with leading others to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.
· Experience with developing and accessing processes that aid in facilitating objectives.
· Ability to communicate professionally and to represent GOI to a wide variety of individuals, both internally and externally.
· Experience in using office technologies and software to accomplish tasks.
· Demonstrated ability to achieve results with minimal supervision.
· Experience in a supervisory or managerial role is beneficial.
· An undergraduate degree required with preference given for religious studies, seminary, business, government, or public administration. Graduate degree preferred.
