Perhaps no area in missions is as subject to pitfalls as screening candidates. If done wrong, it can cause professional liability issues for psychologists and legal liability for the organization. Whom can you hire and how can you screen candidates? The psychological-legal team will discuss writing job descriptions, how to enforce sincerely held religious beliefs, employment law hiring requirements, and legal issues with secondment policies. Then it will discuss psychological best practices in screening and potential legal issues with screening. Attendees will learn how to have screening that is compliant with best practices, benefits the potential candidates, and serves the mission.
