Unconscious bias affects everyone, and can make it especially challenging for women to lead and work effectively in a mission organization. Yet two-thirds of the missionary workforce is female, making it imperative for women to be fully engaged in the organization’s work. Based on extensive research in mission organizations, this session first introduces a framework for identifying and naming the web of barriers that women routinely encounter at work. Then it presents strategies for achieving organizational change. By learning to identify unconscious gender bias and implementing practical strategies to remove those barriers, organizations can help maximize Kingdom work.
