Greg Carter served 24 years as the pastor of global engagement at Liberty Bible Church in Chesterton, IN. In 2010 he wrote Skills, Knowledge, Character: A Church-Based Approach to Missionary Candidate Preparation, and Stones in the Path; and is a contributing author to Pipeline: Engaging the Church in Missionary Mobilization. He is the principal of the church consulting firm, Future Missionaries. He has an M.Div. in Missions and Evangelism from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL.

The environment is ripe for unprecedented breakthroughs in mobilization collaborations in the North American missions’ enterprise.

Training Missionaries for Today’s World

We have laid down the principle that the missionary’s preparation must be commensurate with the task assigned. Further, we have defined the missionary’s task, pointing out its changeless as well as relative aspects. (Evangelical Missions Quarterly, Summer, 1965.) Thus we know the quality of men needed, and we now turn to the missionary’s preparation.
