Summary

Hortense le Gentil is a global executive leadership coach, speaker and author. Her coaching is informed by her 30 years in business working across a number of industries and corporations. She delivers leadership programs at various Fortune 500 companies, is a contributor to Harvard Business Review and has been featured in Forbes and Business Insider.

In this her most recent book, le Gentil argues that the most effective leaders are “human leaders” who lead with empathy, vulnerability, and authenticity. She believes that many still adhere to the myth that leaders must be “infallible, unflappable, and fearless,” and that this misguided notion limits their ability to truly inspire.

She combines research, life stories and practical instruction to identify how leaders can:

– identify mental obstacles that stand between oneself and authenticity;

– Confront one’s fears and shift perspective;

– Utilize practical strategies to effectively connect with oneself and others.
