Summary

Prioritizing Missions in the Church, a part of the 9Marks Church-Centered Missions Series, provides a roadmap for leading the local church in missions. The authors emphasize that the church is the center of missions as both the sender of missionaries and the end result of their labors. The authors describe how the church can be mission minded in the course of ordinary activities like teaching through the Bible and discipleship of members. The book provides concepts to consider when weaving the theme of missions throughout the life of the church such as understanding the mission heart of God, praying for missions and evangelism, connecting with and caring for missionaries, partnering with other local churches, and identifying and training up those who might become pastors and missionaries. Helpful perspectives on church mission budget priorities and the types and purposes of short term mission trips are also included. As pastors in the US and India, the authors tag team their perspectives about leading their churches to the goal of being a mission-minded church despite different settings and challenges, providing a depth of insight than transcends the specific circumstances of any particular of church.
