This is a leadership talk for anyone working in nonprofit comms who is tired of choosing between “protect the team / your time” and “get the work done” — because you shouldn’t have to. \nDrawing on real experience leading a six-person comms team at a global missions agency\, this talk covers the systems and mindset shifts that make sustainable leadership possible: how to structure delegation so your best people are working at their “best and highest use\,” how project management can protect focus time instead of just tracking tasks\, and how understanding your own leadership wiring (in this case\, an Enneagram Type 1’s pull toward high standards and completionism) can either fuel burnout or\, managed well\, become a source of team strength. \nAttendees will leave with concrete frameworks — not just encouragement — for auditing where their own time and their team’s time is going\, redistributing ownership without losing quality control\, and building the kind of team culture where high standards and healthy boundaries aren’t in conflict. \nPresenter: \nHolly McAfee is Director of Communications at Serge\, an international Christian missions agency. The nations are opening to those who bring both the gospel and the real skills the world needs. \nPresenters: \nLuke Perkins is the seventh president in Crossworld’s history\, bringing a deep commitment to disciple-making shaped by years of cross-cultural ministry. From 2016 to 2023\, Luke and his family served with Crossworld in Haiti at the Séminaire de Théologie Evangélique de Port-au-Prince (STEP Seminary)\, equipping disciple-makers to transform Haitian society through the gospel. Before joining Crossworld\, he earned a B.A. from Columbia International University and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary.\nLuke grew up in New Hampshire\, trusted Christ at the age of ten\, and married his wife\, Becca\, in 2007. They have four children: Grace\, Lydia\, Josh\, and Alex. She was a partner for a national CPA firm serving not-for-profit entities through audit and consulting services. DESCRIPTION:People don’t fail to change because they lack information. They fail because they lack ongoing support for implementation. Students discussed their thoughts and feelings about missions and mission opportunities in general. They were also shown marketing materials and websites from leading missions agencies\, and they shared their reactions and responses. She conducted the most recent national multi-city study of youth ministries known for their racially diverse ministry\, and holds a Master’s degree in Youth Ministry Leadership from Huntington University. She is the co-author of Grit and Joy (D6 Books). \n  \n  \nTerry Linhart\, PhD\, is a Christian leader dedicated to helping others thrive in their work and leadership. He is the CEO of Arbor Research Group and Thrum Analytics. Terry brings decades of entrepreneurial experience in guiding organizations and leaders to greater impact. DESCRIPTION:Carlos Negrón of Missio Nexus and Matthew Ellison of 16:15 will be joined by special guests (to be announced) to discuss a challenge that many mission leaders quietly face: “Help! My Pastor Does Not Seem to Care About Missions!” \nAcross churches of all sizes and traditions\, mission advocates often feel the tension of trying to cultivate a global vision when pastoral leadership appears disengaged or overwhelmed. Sometimes the issue is a lack of clarity about what missions truly are. Other times\, it is competing priorities\, limited bandwidth\, previous negative experiences\, or simply not knowing where to begin. Whatever the reason\, the result is the same. A mission team or passionate individual is eager to move forward\, but the pastoral support they need feels distant or uncertain.\nSo the question becomes: What now? How do you honor your leaders\, maintain unity\, and still help your church embrace a heart for the nations? How do you build trust and alignment when it feels like missions is low on your pastor’s list? And what practical steps actually help a pastor grow in conviction\, not just in awareness?\nIn this conversation\, we will explore the root causes behind pastoral disengagement\, the common mistakes mission leaders make when trying to “sell” missions\, and the approaches that truly foster partnership\, clarity\, and shared vision. You will walk away with practical tools that strengthen relationships and open new pathways for global engagement in your church. \nPresenters: \nMaegan Gahima has served as the Missions Director at Parkway Wesleyan Church since 2020. Prior to that\, she lived in East Africa and worked with gospel centered non profit organizations focused on community health and development. She met and married her husband Emma while serving in Africa\, and they now live her hometown of Roanoke\, VA with their three children. Maegan holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Virginia Tech. Over the past 100 years\, Parkway Church has grown in their global missions involvement\, but 2025 was a turning point. After spending a year refining their missions strategy with the help of 1615 Outfitters\, Parkway’s leadership team decided to prioritize The Great Commission\, making it the heart of their mission and vision. \n  \n  \nDustin Spencer has faithfully served Parkway Wesleyan Church since 2010 and currently serves as the church’s Lead Pastor and provides leadership to the staff team. He holds a Master of Arts in Theology from Liberty University and is committed to helping Parkway grow as a Christ-centered church rooted in discipleship. Dustin and his wife\, Carynn\, have been partners in ministry since their marriage in 2006 and are grateful to serve alongside their two sons as part of the Parkway church family.
