Director of Human Resources

About the position

UWM is seeking a full-time Director of Human Resources (HR) to build out and oversee the HR department that serves all UWM employees. This person is a key leader within the organization, overseeing the critical area that is responsible for the life cycle of the employee.

1. Developing and overseeing UWM’s HR function.
2. Stewarding UWM’s culture, values, engagement and employee well-being.
3. Supporting the performance and development of employees.
4. Supporting the execution of UWM’s organizational strategy.

In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Director will supervise the Payroll & Benefits Administrator.

Candidate Qualifications 
Required

• Christ follower with a passion for the Church and global missions
• Affirmation of UWM’s Statement of Faith
• A high value and passion for working with people
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (HR or related field)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR leadership role, preferably with a non-profit
• HR Certified (e.g., SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification, HRCI, HR Certificate program)
• Experience building new teams and processes
• Leadership and management experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent conflict management skills
• Self-starter and problem solver who can manage through ambiguity
• Working knowledge of Excel, Salesforce, and Paycom

Preferred 

• Master’s degree in an HR-related field
• Cross-cultural ministry experience
• Willingness to relocate to Charlotte, NC
