Graduate Learning Coordinator

Summary: 
The Graduate Learning Coordinator is primarily responsible for ensuring the student success and completion of the optional MA program with Kairos University’s competency-based theological education curriculum. Avance (UWM’s Young Adult Missions Training Program) works with Kairos precisely because of Kairos’s educational philosophy of integrated curriculum where “context determines mastery”.  

At full capacity, the Graduate Learning Coordinator will manage the degree completion for 10-25 students per year spread across 5 different apprenticeship contexts. This opportunity is highly administrative and creative, providing personalized attention to each student, developing adaptive curriculum curation, and convening an international learning cohort. The position requires flexibility to work well with each Avance site in its unique aspects of the curriculum, while maintaining quality adherence to the requirements of Kairos. Reports to the Avance Kairos faculty of record. Based remotely. 

Primary Responsibilities: 
Manage between 10 and 25 master’s degree students serving in 5 distinct contexts. 
Develop, track, and manage student progress through Kairos’s Pathwrite platform and Avance sites’ Microsoft Teams platform. 
Ensure student’s completion of developed competencies associated with the Kairos outcomes. 
Collaborate with representatives from each Avance site to develop a consistent, but contextualized curriculum, flexible enough for each student, but at the service of the local ministry context. 
Meet with each student monthly to keep them accountable and on track towards degree completion. 
Convene monthly virtual meetings among students to facilitate learning transfer and an international cohort. 
Take responsibility for the delivery of certain portions of the curriculum depending upon instructional specialty and distinct site needs. 
Attend informational meetings for Kairos and report back innovations to site representatives. 
Cultivate a culture of reflective practice according to threaded service-learning principals for mission, primarily through the DEAL reflection process tied to a student’s monthly learning contract. 
Opportunities for applied educational and/or missiological research. 
 

Successful candidates will have: 
A master’s degree related to ministry, mission, theology, or community-based education. 
An ability to travel at least once per year to various contexts and sites. 
Contagious faith, deep love for the Lord Jesus, His church, for young adults and for the people of the national context and Church who demonstrates spiritual maturity (eg. 1 Tim. 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9). 
A commitment to working interdenominationally with the Evangelical church within UWM and the national context. 
Able to develop healthy working relationships and fosters an environment for collaboration. 
Highly motivated, self-starter with strong communication & networking skills that navigates autonomy well. 
Forward thinker who recognizes and seeks out innovation. 
A familiarity & willingness to work in virtual learning environments across contexts and time zones. 
Working knowledge of or willingness to learn about competency-based theological education, service-learning pedagogy, and missional theological education. 
A flexible approach to customization and standardization between sites, curricula, and learners. 
Adhere to Kairos’s competency-based theological education philosophy and Avance’s missional service-learning approach. 
 

Preferred qualifications include: 
An earned doctorate. 
Ministry or Theological teaching experience. 
Cross-cultural experience. 
Spanish or other second language.
