The Perspectives Study Program (also known as Perspectives USA) exists to awaken the Church to pursue the fulfillment of God’s global purpose within every people for His glory.  We accomplish this through education – specifically a 15-lesson course rooted in a coherent, biblical paradigm.  This course is run in as many US locations and demographics as possible.  Perspectives staff and volunteers assure that our ministry is relational, financially sustainable, focused on locally based mobilization, and is continuously improving and growing.   

The course first launched in 1974 following the Urbana Missions Conference of 1973, as a way of providing strategic education to young adults who were interested in global mission service.  Since then, the US program has grown into a mobilization movement of nearly 250 classes involving over 8,000 students each year. The volunteer network includes over 2000 active participants and nearly 1000 annual instructors each year. 

Role Summary 

A Regional Director (RD) represents our organization by overseeing geographic territory (or region) for the Perspectives Study Program. They are mature believers with a passion to see Christ glorified among all peoples. RD’s have a deep understanding of the content, vision, and mission of Perspectives and use their gifts to shepherd and grow their region. Regional Directors serve as a part of the Perspectives Leadership Team.

Worker Status: 

Support-based or Self-supported Staff Position (staff living expenses are covered through personal fundraising or the worker does not need to raise funds)

Reports To: Executive Mobilization Officer – Central Section

Key Responsibilities 

Stewards Perspectives Vision, Mission, and Values for the Texas Region
Develops and implements the Perspectives organizational direction under the leadership of the Executive Mobilization Officer
Participates in organization strategy development through departmental consultations and multi-function task force groups
Develops and implements strategic planning for region 
Develops and implements prayer strategies
Executes, implements, and provides feedback on Perspectives Functional strategies
Examples of Functional Departments within Perspectives: communication, leader training, instructor development, alumni, partnerships, financial development, etc.
Collaborates with other function leaders to serve the organizational mission
Proposes and manages a regional budget (including area budgets)
Accountable for regional class operations and reporting
Gives final class approvals
Pursues class quality and Perspectives movement growth
Represents and expands Perspectives brand
Assures provision of training in the region
Recruits, develops, and oversees regional teams
Creates and implements leadership development strategies for the regional team
Supervises Area Team Leaders
Travels within Texas Region and to key national meetings

Desired Qualifications

Completed Perspectives course at a certificate or credit level
Passionate and knowledgeable about Perspectives Vision, Mission, and Values, Perspectives content, and the broader mobilization of World Christians
In agreement with Lausanne Covenant and Perspectives’ Statement of Faith
Perspectives leadership experience preferred
Coordinated at least one class
Lives in Texas, preferably in a large metropolitan area

Professional and/or Educational:
Experience leading ministry/volunteer teams and committees
Comfortable networking with ministry leaders
Comfortable in collaborative efforts within a broad range of multicultural ministry settings
Demonstrated ability to independently initiate, organize, coordinate, and complete projects and events
Self-directed and motivated
Ability to use technology and various software programs for documentation, communication, and presentation
Experience in training and/or instruction preferred
Strong interpersonal, phone, and written communication skills

Personal commitment to live out their faith in community with others
Commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement
Ability to lead and work well with teams and individuals
Skilled at problem solving and resolving conflicts
