1 June. Pray for outreach to the diasporas in Germany, now home to one of the most diverse populations in Europe. Since 2013, over 17 million migrants from outside the European have come to Europe, finding their way to places like Germany, Spain, the UK, and Italy. Millions of Muslims live in the neighborhoods of Germany’s cities, including Turks, Persians, Afghans, Kurds, Arabs, and North Africans. The Turkish population in Germany is the largest diaspora group; many among the Persian Iranians and Afghans have shown significant spiritual openness. Pray for new believers, for the Gospel to spread from house to house, and for spiritual protection. Pray especially for the rapid growth of migrants within the churches: that churches will welcome and disciple Muslim-background believers. Pray, too, for protection from both Islamic radicalism and anti-Muslim nationalism. Acts 17:26-27 – “From one man he made all nations…and he determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they might seek God.” 2nd. Pray for Haiti. Haiti’s descent into chaos has reached a harrowing juncture, where state authority has all but collapsed, and the international community’s interventions have proven insufficient. The capital, Port-au-Prince, remains under the control of armed gangs which have seized critical infrastructure, including fuel depots and ports. These groups, now designated as transnational terrorist organizations by the United States, have perpetrated massacres of hundreds. The humanitarian crisis deepens as over a million people have been displaced, and acute food insecurity affects nearly half the population. The Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission, despite its presence, remains under-resourced and has struggled to make significant inroads against the gangs. In a desperate bid for assistance, Haiti has turned to private military contractors, including Eric Prince’s firm, to bolster security efforts. This reliance on mercenaries underscores the international community’s failure to provide effective support, leaving Haiti to grapple with its turmoil largely on its own. The vast majority of Haiti’s people are Catholics, but their Catholicism is often mingled with voodoo, which has its roots in West African animism. Evangelicals in various forms have grown in numbers, through evangelism, love in action, and by openly standing against voodoo. Pray for an end to the chaos and anarchy and lawlessness that have swamped Haiti, and for the rise of good leaders at every level of society and church who will build the nation rather than loot or exploit it. Psalm 82:3–4 — “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” 3rd. Pray urgently for peace to take root in Israel and Gaza amid the devastating war. The recent acceptance of a draft cease-fire by Israel, and the possibility that Hamas may soon accept it, offer a fragile and fleeting hope: a 60-day pause in violence, release of hostages, delivery of aid, and a tentative path toward negotiation. Yet beneath this uncertain calm lies the immense human cost—cities shattered, families grieving, daily fear, and deep-seated enmities that long predate this conflict. Pray for hearts hardened by loss to be softened by the Spirit, for leaders on all sides to be guided toward justice and mercy, and for the Church to exemplify the Prince of Peace with courage and wisdom. Pray for the spread of the Gospel in Gaza and Israel, where access is limited and risks abound, that new life might emerge in places darkened by war. Above all, pray for the healing of wounds, the breaking of cycles of vengeance, and for a future where swords are beaten into plowshares and the nations walk in the light of the Lord. Isaiah 2:4 — “They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.” 4th. Pray for Mozambique, in the midst of compounding crises—armed conflict, extreme weather, and social unrest—each deepening the nation’s humanitarian needs and threatening fragile stability. Over 5 million people now require urgent aid, as fighting in Cabo Delgado and surrounding provinces disrupts livelihoods and displaces thousands. The recent devastation wrought by Cyclone Chido has crippled infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated near $47 million just in one district alone. This triple crisis strains local and international capacities to respond, leaving communities vulnerable to hunger, disease, and despair. Pray for the church in Mozambique to embody resilience and compassion, serving as a source of hope amid chaos. Pray for aid efforts to be effective and sustained, for peace to take hold in conflict zones, and for spiritual renewal to accompany physical rebuilding—so that God’s Kingdom might flourish even in the hardest places. Psalm 46:1–3 — “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear… though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” 5th. Pray for the Uyghur people enduring relentless pressure as China’s policies seek to reshape their identity through forced labor, surveillance, and cultural suppression (NYT). Amid the strategic control of Xinjiang, their Islamic faith and heritage are under siege—mosques closed, language restricted, and religious practice criminalized. For the Kingdom to spread in this situation means moving against both the Chinese government and their own persecuted culture. Pray that the Holy Spirit would sustain underground believers, granting them courage and resilience in the face of oppression. Ask for global awareness and justice to rise against these abuses, and for hearts of power to be moved toward mercy and truth. Pray that even in the shadows, the light of Christ shines, preserving hope and kindling new life among the Uyghurs. Matthew 25:36 — “I was in prison and you came to visit me.” 6th. Pray for international student ministries in the United States facing significant challenges amid shifting political tides. The tightening visa policies, especially targeting Chinese students tied to sensitive sectors or party membership, have cast a shadow of uncertainty over thousands seeking education and new life abroad. Pray for wisdom and boldness for ministry leaders as traditional hospitality models are disrupted, and opportunities for Gospel witness among “future leaders” become more fraught. Ask for God to open new doors—whether within the U.S. or abroad in emerging hubs like Germany or Australia—where students can find spiritual community and encounter Christ. Pray for perseverance amid financial pressures on universities and ministries alike, that the Church’s outreach to international students would remain vibrant and fruitful, even as the global landscape shifts unpredictably. Colossians 4:2–4 — “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message… that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ.” 7th. Pray for the young Ethiopians risking their lives to reach Saudi Arabia. Read this story and join us in prayer for the many young Ethiopians are undertaking perilous journeys to Saudi Arabia in search of better economic opportunities. The route, known as the “Eastern Route,” involves crossing the Gulf of Aden, traversing war-torn Yemen, and navigating through the rugged terrain of Saudi Arabia’s Jizan province. Along this path, they face grave dangers—exploitation by human traffickers, abuse from border guards, and threats of violence and environmental hardship. Yet hope propels them forward despite the risks. Pray for their protection and safety, for the provision of timely humanitarian aid, and that believers will be present to meet them with compassion and the love of Christ at critical moments along their journey. Romans 12:13 — “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” |
